Product Overview

Large-Scale Ground-Mounted Solar Power Generation Solution
Ground Mounted Solar Power Plant is the primary form of centralized photovoltaic power generation. Typically built on unused land with abundant solar resources-such as deserts, Gobi areas, and tidal flats-these plants feature large installed capacity, high power generation efficiency, and ease of centralized management and maintenance, making them a key pathway for large-scale clean energy substitution. As PV power generation enters the grid parity era, Ground Mounted Solar Power Plant projects are placing higher demands on modules in terms of full lifecycle energy yield, O&M costs, and environmental adaptability.
CdTe thin-film PV modules, leveraging excellent low-light response and a lower temperature coefficient, outperform conventional crystalline silicon modules under high-temperature and diffuse-light conditions. Their temperature coefficient is approximately half that of crystalline silicon. When module temperatures reach 65–70°C in summer, power loss is about 10% lower than that of crystalline silicon. Under low-light conditions such as overcast days, rainy days, early morning, and late afternoon, energy yield can be 10%–15% higher than crystalline silicon, effectively extending the plant's daily effective generation time.

Product Features
ASP has launched a new generation of ultra-large-format CdTe PV modules. The single-module area has increased significantly from 0.72 m² to nearly 2.8 m² (1215 mm × 2300 mm), with module power output up to 505 W and mass-production conversion efficiency exceeding 18%. In May 2026, the module passed three authoritative international certifications at once-TÜV Rheinland IEC 61215, IEC 61730, and cTUVus for the North American market-marking full recognition of its technical capabilities by the mainstream international standards system. Through improved efficiency, larger module area, and optimized production speed, the manufacturing cost per watt is now essentially on par with mainstream crystalline silicon modules, completely overturning the industry's long-held perception that CdTe PV modules are "high cost." A single production line has an annual capacity of 500 MW, enabling large-scale supply.

In ground-mounted centralized PV plant applications, ASP's new-generation large-format CdTe PV modules deliver efficient, reliable, and cost-effective solutions by combining high conversion efficiency, high stability, ultra-large area, and low cost. For large-scale Ground Mounted Solar Power Plant projects, they offer a new option that combines technological advancement with economic viability.

FAQ
What is a CdTe Ground Mounted Solar Power Plant?
A CdTe land based solar power plant is a centralized photovoltaic power generation system that uses CdTe PV modules installed on open land with ground mounting structures to convert solar energy into electricity.
Why choose CdTe PV modules for ground-mounted solar power plants?
CdTe PV modules are selected for ground-mounted solar power plants because their temperature coefficient is approximately half that of crystalline silicon, and they offer excellent low-light response. Under real-world operating conditions such as high temperatures and overcast or rainy weather, they can generate 10%–15% more electricity than crystalline silicon modules. In addition, large-format mass production costs have reached parity with crystalline silicon, resulting in a more competitive levelized cost of electricity (LCOE).
Do CdTe PV power plants also use conventional central PV inverters or string inverters?
Yes, CdTe PV power plants are consistent with conventional crystalline silicon ground-mounted plants and can use standard central or string PV inverters.
